Ballarat St is first cross street this end but out of sight; Main St is second cross street beyond horse and buggy tied to telephone pole. Rainier Beer sign on pole on left. Man standing in door of two story building. Three men in front of next building and woman and child with them on walk. Beyond pole horses are tied in front of building. Two story building in right foreground, porch over walk, sign on side of porch TOTEM CLUB. False front, square, three windows in upper story of building front, single windows. Board fence near side of building with vertical board screen nailed to fence next to Totem Club. Pole on corner by two story building, false front with three single windows upper story. American flags flying from staffs on each side of upper story of Totem Club. Beyond buggy and across side street is Milwaukee Saloon and other two story buildings farther down street. Few small trees along street and on corner. Tall flagpole extends above roof of building on corner. On left side right corner is North Bend Restaurant with Rainier Beer sign on pole outside side walk. Wooden sidewalks. Building next to restaurant is two and half stories, three single windows in second story in front and louver in center front above windows. Square false front, windows across front, emblem painted on front above them. Cross street at end of first block is Main Street with bank on corner of First and Main. Bell telephone sign on pole with cross arm on corner by bank. Round sign extended over sidewalk next door is Siegrist, Jeweler and Watchmaker. Other buildings with signs over sidewalk farther down street on left. Tall evergreen trees beyond end of street in distance. Men on sidewalks in front of stores in first block. July 3 to 12, 1908. Such a dandy time as I had. Went to upper Snoqualmie Falls. Cedar River Falls, Cedar Lake, Seattle Lighting Plant, climbed mountains, fished, rode on hand car, went out with work engine flat cars. Visited Duana Spoon at Edgewick. Her father was locomotive engineer for WC Week's North Bend Lumber Co.

The scene is looking north from Northern Pacific Rail Road tracks, in back of Maloney's Livery, on the left, and in back of Taylor's Gen. Mdse. Store on the right. There is a covered buggy in the street, by the livery, and the Cascadia Hotel is across first from the Livery. The street is dirt and the deep wagon tracks can be seen. Stores with false fronts can be seen on the right of the street, and homes on each side.
